And charge $5 more to not do this online???? Pay for bags online Beginning July 9, 2009, customers will be able to pay for checked bags when they check in online - $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second. For customers who choose to pay for checked bags at the airport, there will be an additional $5 service fee. We're unable to determine which passenger paid for fees online and we'll credit the first passenger to check in at the airport with the online payment. If customers pay for bags online, they need to bring their bags to a US Airways ticket counter at the same time. The agency was closed and I was aleady at the airport at Southwest. Missed the last flight and had to wait until the next morning. Called Usairways and put on hold a ticket leaving in 2 hours. I was going to pay at the counter but when I arrived at Usairways was informed of the following: Service charge for all tickets of 35.00 paid at the airport. While standing in line, called USairways to pay for the ticket since the service charge is only 25.00/ticket for phoned in reservations. If I went online, I would of avoided any service charge. The flight was in one hour and sold out so no time. End result - must do everything online dealing with an airline or there will be fees on top of fees. Try to do anything at the airport other than check your bags, print a boarding pass and show an id, will be trouble.

" Wow, they'll be able to make a reality tv episode with that policy. I hope they put that disclaimer on their own online booking site. In matching each other's schemes for a la carte revenue sources the airlines are digging their respective graves by making air travel more and more frustrating.
