Now that I am consulting for homebased agents I find I field at least a dozen calls a day about the MLM agencies, especially YTB. The only way to truly get some insight on this organization is to join them. Last night I went to a YTB meeting to get some info and have now signed up with them so I can get a first hand education on how this works. It is worth the investment to try and see how this "business" actually works. I am in the process of setting up a blog to follow the progress and to give my insight on this company. Those interested after the first of the year can send me a PM and I will send them the link. I will not post it here, but I am sure it will make its way available to all. Posts: 823 (11/21/07 13:36:13) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Even though I do not own an "agency" any longer, I still have my an IATA number and CLIA number so the $495 fee was waived for joining and the $49.95 per month will be waived once I build my downline . Supposedly the person I am registered under is one of the higher REP's so it will be interesting to see how this all works. This is not a desire to build a "business", but an opportunity to get a more inside knowledge of how these companies operate. "Hate the Player, Hate the Game"

Posts: 823 (11/22/07 10:36:55) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Those big $70 commissions per year are going to finance my retirement. These MLM's have just put such a blackeye on this industry. I get way too many calls from people that either want to join one of these and ask my opinion of them or from past reps that want to truly get in the travel business. My personal goal is to rid the industry of these parasites using any legal means I can. Joining was at the suggestion of my attorney also so I could get a first hand info on how it works. I have been sending info to the AG of CA and received a letter yesterday thanking me for the information and that they will be opening an investigation into some of the companies I sent them concerning the seller of travel laws. I want to be the thorn in YTB's side. It should be fun. Hard to recruit though when your wearing one of the NO MLM green t-shirts. "Hate the Player, Hate the Game"

All the while, we hear of "unethical" practices by YTB and yet, this poster joined with the sole intent to deceive people who may be looking to get into something legitimate. If anything negative comes from that, i.e. teaching bad practices it is purely sabotage on Maynard's part. And he.she should immediately be reported individually. What a sad, sad, person.

Posts: 163 (11/23/07 17:39:47) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	You will see what we are about... regardless of what others say 1) YTB will not terminate you for this. 2) You will see in our training that we make many mentions that we are not going after your ( the professional travel agent customers)... that we are going after the customers that already book travel on-line. 3) YTB offers all the opportunity to advance their training as I am presently taking all classes on-line that CLIA and YTB offer. 4) YTB cannot beheld responsible for the few (and of course you will say the many) that do try recruiting travel agents..... see it depends who took the first shot and who is going to finish it.... seems everyone has to point fingers at each other. It is a shame that some have done what they have and it is a shame that others say what they do.... it is just a difference of opinion.

Have owned 3 agencies for 32 years and all three are still in business owned now by former employees If this YTB thing does not work or my consulting business goes defunct, then I know there is a another great option out there for me. Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Each party will at all times be deemed to be an independent contractor with respect to the subject matter of this Agreement, and nothing contained in this Agreement will be deemed or construed in any manner as creating any partnership, joint venture, employment, agency, fiduciary or other similar relationship. You may not assign your rights or obligations under this Agreement to any party. This is from the Travelocity Associate agreement, with which, I believe YTB is hooked. Consequently, it looks like a business license is a necessity. for each website business owner.
